I would like to tell you a story about my funniest boating adventure. I used to work for a boating company and we would spend all month building and getting the boats ready to be shipped out to the stores. It was a small company and as a reward for all of our hard work, the owner of the company would allow us to take four or five of the boats out for a spin on the weekend once a month before they were shipped out.
Even though all of the workers enjoyed this monthly event very much, it wasn’t all for pleasure. It was also a way to randomly test the craftsmanship of the boats but we didn’t mind. Now, it’s time to get to the actual story. This one particular sunny Saturday morning a group of us gather on one of the motorboats and prepared to take it out for a cruise. As a joke, the foreman of the company said that if we got carried away and damaged the boat in any way, we would spend the rest of the weekend working and fixing it. Since this had never happened before, everyone laughed and we took off.
About twenty minutes into our journey, the driver of the boat decided he wanted to see just how fast it would go and took off across the water full speed. What he neglected to realize was that he was in an area where there were lots of sandbars just beneath the surface of the water. You are supposed to tread slowly through this particular section of the water. Before anyone could speak, we hit a sandbar, ripped the motor off the back of the boat and got stuck.
Not only did we have to get another boat to pull us off the sandbar and tow us back to the docks, but all of us did spend the rest of the weekend repairing the boat and replacing the motor. We went down in history for being the first group to ever damage a company boat on our weekend adventures.
